Albums on Repeat
A bit of a less intense post than some I've done in the recent past. I've been digging some older jazz albums of late and thought I'd drop them here. Spotify put together a solid mix of Louis Armstrong classics which have been on repeat for a number of weeks. Top tracks I come back to are "I've Got The World On A String," "Gone Finshin'" (with Bing Crosby), "You Can't Lose A Broken Heart" (with Ella Fitzgerald) and "We'll Be Together Again."
Second, I returned often to Erroll Garner, a new artist for me in the past year or so. His album Ready Take One is incredible. I don't think there's a single track I don't love of this album.
Finally, another album which is not in the jazz genre, but crosses over in some ways, is Rhapsody in Brass by the Munich Brass Ensemble. This is a recording of a bunch of George Gershwin pieces solely by a brass section (aside from the piano needed for "Rhapsody in Blue"). Gershwin is one of my favorite modern composers and this is a phenomenal rendition of several of his better known pieces.
